The Çetinkaya Iron Ore Plant is 34 km from the Kangal district of Sivas

The primary ore minerals are hematite and magnetite at this mine, one of the first established by Demir Export. We resumed production in 2004, after a suspended period from 1990 to 2003 because of high levels of underground water (200 l/sec). This mine achieved approximately 2.8 million tons of iron ore in sales by the end of 2008, with a 200,000-ton annual production capacity. An average proven and probable reserve is 6 million tons of iron ore at 54% Fe grade as of year-end 2008.
